1. Description

The AG Mini Heat Pump is the ideal choice for heating Above Ground Pools up to 10m3 (when used with a solar cover)

High efficiency

With a COP value up to 5.0 our heat pumps are very efficient when transferring heat from the air to the swimming pool water. You can save as much as 80% of cost compared to an electrical heater.

Long life-span

The heat exchanger is made of PVC & Titanium tube, which can withstand and prolong exposure to swimming pool water.

Easy control and operation

The unit is very easy to operate: simply switch it on and set the desired pool water temperature.The system includes a micro-computer controller, allowing all operation parameters to be set. Operation status can be displayed on the controller with LED display.

Note: The AG Mini requires a pump/filter with a system flow rate of approx 1.3m3/hr or more to operate. Please check that your pump/filter is adequate before purchasing.

3. Easy to Use Digital Control Panel

The AG Mini has a touch screen easy to use display.

Simply use the up and down arrow keys to set your desired pool temperature and the AG Mini will automatically turn on and off to maintain the desired temperature

5.  What size heat pump do I require for my pool?

How to Calculate Your pool Water Volume:

You can easily calculate the water volume in your pool as follows: –

Round Pools

To calculate the volume of a round pool, you can use the formula

Pool Volume = 3.14 x radius x radius x depth

1. Measure the diameter of the pool in metres
2. Half the diameter to give the radius of the pool
3. Multiply 3.14 x radius x radius x pool depth

Example

A 12′ (3.66 m) diameter round above ground pool with a depth of 0.8m

Diameter = 12′ x 0.305 = 3.66m

Radius = 3.66 / 2 = 1.83m

Volume = 3.14 x 1.83 x 1.83 x 0.8m = 8.4 m3

The AG Mini 2.9kw supports pools up to 10m3 so would be ideal for this pool, however if you live in a colder area we would always recommend you use a heat pump with a defrost system.

Rectangular Pools

Pool volume = length x width x depth

Example

6m x 4m pool, 0.8 m deep = 6 x 4 x 0.8 = 19.2 m3

Maximum for AG Mini  = 10m3 so this would be too large – look at our SunSpring or Thermotec Eco Fun heat pumps

Typical Pool Sizes and Volumes

8′ x 30″ Intex above Ground pool = 3.6 m3 – AG Mini OK !

10′ x 30″ Intex above Ground pool = 5.5m3 AG Mini OK !

12′ x 36″ Intex above Ground pool = 9.6 m3 – AG Mini just OK, but consider a larger model eg Sunspring 5kw

Please note that these sizes are based on summer use (May-Sep) to ensure that you maintain a good water temperature as long as you cover the pool with the solar cover for as many hours a day as possible (max 4 hours uncovered). The colder the outside air temperature (including night temperatures as this is the coldest time where you will lose most heat) the larger the heat pump size you will need (kw)

6. Additional Fittings

The AG Mini comes with two screw on hose tails that accept both 32mm (1.25″) and 38mm (1.5″) standard pool hose

9. Installation

Installation is very easy and straightforward.

The AG Mini is connected to your above ground pool hoses

It uses the existing pool circulation pump to pump the pool water through it.

10. Savings

Using the AG Mini heat pump to heat your pool rather than an electric heater will save you money on running costs

The AG Mini only uses 0.59kw of electricity to produce up to 2.9 kw of pool heat.

If you compare this with an electric pool heater, a 3kw electric pool heater would use 3kw of electricity !

The AG Mini therefore is only less than 1/4 the running cost of an electric pool heater – saving you money!
